  • Objective: to galvanize the Houston Regional Technology Consortium & create a competitive application for Houston's bid for participation in the U.S. Federal Regional Tech Hub program

  • Develop strategies, frameworks and funding structures to support Houston’s ongoing innovation efforts by cultivating public, education and private sector partnerships.

Execution Strategy

In submitting Houston's application, Nexus Houston may select one core technology area that falls within a single key technology focus area (KTFAs) or crosses multiple KTFAs where the Hub has the potential to “become within a reasonable time a self-sustaining, globally competitive leader in that selected core technology area’s market.”

Grant

Requirements

Per the law, the consortium must include:

1. Institutions of higher education

2. Relevant Private Sector Companies

​

3. State and Local Government

​

4. Labor Organizations or Workforce Training Organizations, which may include State and Local Workforce Development Boards​

​

5. Economic Development Organizations focused on improving technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and/or access to capital
